Reading: Kaki Anau

I am learning to focus on reading for a set purpose (skimming and scanning).

I'll know I can do this when I can find and locate key information and record key information.

Something I found hard was to try and get all my SML's done.

Learner Qualities: Empathise

I am learning how to empathise.

I'll know I can do this when I can identify a variety of ways I can show empathy to others.

One way I empathise is by putting my feet in other people's shoes.

Maths: Tapawaru

WALHT sort fractions with different denominators.

I'll know I can do this when I can order fractions based on their size.

Something I found hard was was the last one because it was hard to know what one was equal and not equal.

Art Attack: Don Binney

I am learning to create a piece of art inspired by Don Binney.

I'll know I can do this when I have created a landscape with a foreground, middle, and background.
My bird and my background are coloured using pastels and natural colours.

Something I found hard was my art because you had to colour all the white bits.

Writing: Information Report

I am learning to write an Information Report.

I'll know I can do this when I can plan and write an information reports with a title, topic sentence, and a group of facts about a subject.

Something I found hard was to get my words right.

Calendar Art

This is my calendar art!
My bird is a whio.

Peace Week 2017.

I have been learning about Peace Week.
Peace Week is an annual tradition organised by The Peace Foundation every year. You can learn more about The Peace Foundation by following this LINK.

As a way to learn about Peace Week I did three different Peace Week activities.

With Miss Brennan we created a poster to help promote peace and Peace Week.
With Mrs Baker we made hand print doves and wrote messages of peace on them.
With Mr Horn we looked at the symbols of peace such as the dove and created origami doves.

Here is an example of one of my activities

Student Led Conference

My highlight this term was Mrs McLeod's math group because there was a math game that is very fun, its called Ripper Rugby. The game helps me with my basic facts.

I am most proud of sharing my tiki because I worked on it so hard.

I think my parents enjoyed my maths game because they have never played it before.

Next time I would like to have more time to do my learning.

Procedural riting

WALHT write a procedure.

Something I learned about writing a procedure is how to make good instructions by having a list of what I need.

Something I would like to do better is using adverbs in sentences.

Dance

We learned  hip hop  and salsa at dance.
I like salsa because we get to dance with a boy.
Hip hop  isn't  my thing because we have to do weird moves but I tried it anyway.

Writing

WALHT add a twist to our writing.
Here is my poem;

I didn't but I did.

I didn't see a eel
I didn't see a friend
I didn't see a teacher
But I did see The Smurfs

I did't eat a brain
I didn't eat poo
I didn't eat a dog
But I did eat a pizza

I didn't go to  Africa
I didn't go to the zoo
I didn't go to the hairdressers
But I did pull my tooth out.

Next time I would like to add funny lines so people laugh.
